Which employers will offer unemployment benefits to their employees?

More than 70,000 Americans will receive unemployment assistance this week as part of a temporary government program.

The jobs and wages program will run from Friday through Sunday.

Many of those affected will receive money starting Friday, while others will receive up to six weeks of unemployment benefits.

That will include most of the people who received unemployment benefits in January and February and were eligible for up to $1,000 per week, according to the National Employment Law Project, which advocates for the unemployed.

The U.S. Labor Department said in a statement Friday that it expects to provide $4.8 billion to the roughly 80,000 people who will receive benefits.
