The homeless man, identified by his first name, Daniel, was arrested by police at the Los Angeles Convention Center at 8:35 a.m. local time, L.I.

Daniel is charged with burglary and resisting arrest.

The stolen sunglasses were valued at $1.60, police Sgt. Anthony Salerno told The Associated Press.

He said the theft happened during the daytime.

The LAPD said Daniel had a history of mental illness and had been homeless for the past year.

Daniel was charged with Burglary, Possession of a Weapon by a Dangerous Person and Possession and Theft of Property, according a news release from the L.O.P.D. Daniel will appear in court on Monday.
